What actually counts as earned Robux

The 30,000 minimum is measured in earned Robux, not your balance. People hit "Cash Out", see a healthy number, and get rejected because most of it was bought or gifted.

These count:

  • Developer products, passes and subscriptions sold inside your experience
  • Fees from in-experience purchases of Marketplace items, and fees from Robux Transfers through the Transfer API
  • Paid private servers, paid access purchased in Robux, Roblox Plus incentives, and ads published inside a game
  • Paid models and plugins sold on the Creator Store
  • Avatar items sold in the Marketplace
  • Creator Rewards from daily engagement and audience expansion

These never count:

  • Robux you bought directly
  • Monthly Robux grants from a Roblox subscription
  • Trading or resale of in-game or avatar items
  • Robux received through Robux transfers
  • Robux from gift card redemption
  • Passes sold for template games with no legitimate user visits
  • Violative content that was moderated

Roblox also reserves the right to decide what qualifies at its own discretion — the clause exists mainly to exclude self-dealing and moderated content after the fact.

Creator Rewards count, after a wait

Robux from Creator Rewards is earned Robux and does count toward the minimum. It carries a 60-day holding period first, so it shows up in your total well before it is usable.

The U.S. 18+ rate has its own set of conditions

Being eligible for DevEx does not make you eligible for the $0.0054 rate. That requires the spend to come from age-verified 18+ U.S. players, on developer products, passes, subscriptions, private servers, in an experience where:

  • Players must spend 100% of active playtime as an R15 platform avatar — no R6 spawning or switching
  • Custom human-form characters need roughly 1 head, 2 arms and 2 legs, 12 limb parts or joints distributed evenly, a torso with at least 2 parts or joints, and full bipedal range of motion
  • Animation packs must be R15, not R6

If your experience lets players spawn as R6, none of your revenue qualifies — regardless of who is spending.

Why rejections cluster around the name field

The cashout form asks for your legal name and it is checked against the identity and tax documents behind the account. Usernames, shortened names, or a parent's name on a minor's account are the single most common cause of a stalled first payout.

If a parent manages the finances for a creator under 18, the tax form still belongs to the creator. Putting the parent's details on it creates a mismatch that surfaces later, usually at the worst time.

Frequently asked questions

Can you DevEx under 18?

Yes. The minimum age is 13. This trips people up because there is also a $0.0054 "U.S. 18+" rate — but that refers to the age of the players spending in your experience, not your age.

A 14-year-old creator can earn at the 18+ rate. An adult creator whose players are all minors cannot.

How many Robux for DevEx?

30,000 earned Robux — $114.00 at the standard rate. Purchased Robux, gifts and transfers do not count, no matter what your total balance shows.

Do group funds count toward DevEx?

Only after they are paid out to you. Robux sitting in a group balance belongs to the group. A payout moves it into your account and it counts from that point. Note that one-time group payouts follow the same old-rate ordering rules as everything else.

Why was my DevEx application denied?

Four causes account for most rejections:

  • The name on the request does not match your legal identity documents
  • Missing or invalid tax information
  • An unresolved moderation action on the account or its content
  • Robux in the balance that Roblox does not classify as earned
How long does approval take?

Around 10 business days the first time and 5 after that, plus bank processing. One request per calendar month, and only after the previous payment lands.
